Angel has four children.
Each with their names
and faces and minds—
unique yet alike.
Angel was in prison
for some time. During which,
her children were put
in the custody of her brother
in Vancouver, WA.
Angel says her attitude is bad,
especially in the morning.
I’m not a morning person, she says.
I’m working on it.
She feels guilty sending
her kids off to school
like that.
Angel is working at what
we’re all working at.
What we’re all trudging
toward; what we’re all
hoping won’t slip through
our fingers this time.
