We drove up north
where the sky started
to clear up.
We had some business
to take care of. It was my
day off.
During lunch we talked
about work, women, and
wanting more.
I can’t think of anyone
who doesn’t want more—
of this or that.
Sometime after lunch
we decided to head back
down south.
As we sat in silence, it
dawned on me. I hadn’t
lost everything.
Inside, there was still
a capacity to love. Greater
now than ever.
